چکیده

Abstract INTRODUCTION The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness heparin inhibit development early bacteriuria as a coating for biodegradable ureteral stents. MATERIAL AND METHODS BraidStent®-H stent, whose incorporated by dip coating, was chosen study. Twenty-four swine were randomly divided into two groups: 12 animals underwent unilateral placement and fitted with standard double-j stent (DJS). Bacteriuria comparatively analyzed over time consecutive urine sampling at 0, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 48 hours. In addition, concentration released in vitro artificial 24, 48, 72, 92 120 hours determined via ELISA. RESULTS generates significantly lower rate than DJS 6 Heparin shows significant delaying effect on onset bacteriuria, reaching 100% hours, compared DJS, which takes place ELISA results reveal presence total 72 does not affect degradation device, completed weeks. CONCLUSIONS evidences an effective inhibition showing its potential antibacterial Future studies should focus long-term coatings materials.

Heparin coating on ureteral Double J stents prevents encrustations: an in vivo case study.

PURPOSE To evaluate the ability of heparin coating to inhibit Double J stent encrustation and compare it with the classic polyurethane Double J stent. PATIENTS AND METHODS The study involved five patients with bilateral obstructions, who required bilateral ureteral Double J stent placement. Every patient received a heparin-coated Double J stent and a traditional polyurethane Double J stent fo...

Engineering solutions to ureteral stents: material, coating and design

Introduction An ideal stent would offer simple insertion and removal with no discomfort and/or migration, it would have no biofilm formation or encrustation and would also maintain the patient's quality of life. Material and methods In this mini-review, we outlined the engineering developments related to stent material, design and coating. Results There have been a wide variety of in-vitro,...

Performance characteristics of hemofilters with heparin surface coating: an experimental study.

Heparin surface coated hemofilters and tubing sets were evaluated in comparison to identical but uncoated controls in 8 bovine experiments (74+/-6 kg). No heparin was given (neither systemically nor in the priming fluid). The hemofilters were primed with one liter of Ringer's lactate in both groups and the maximal filter performance (arterial line pressure 300 mmHg; transmembrane pressure (TM...

Scanning electron microscopic assessment of the biodegradable coating on expanded biolimus-eluting stents.

AIMS Biodegradable coatings on drug-eluting stents (DES) may help to avoid adverse long-term effects of DES such as late/very late stent thrombosis which is partly attributed to durable polymers. As the post-expansion morphology of biodegradable coatings is greatly unknown, we investigated the polylactic acid coating on biolimus-eluting BioMatrix stents. METHODS AND RESULTS Scanning electron ...

Modeling and analysis of drug-eluting stents with biodegradable PLGA coating: consequences on intravascular drug delivery.

Increasing interests have been raised toward the potential applications of biodegradable poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) coatings for drug-eluting stents in order to improve the drug delivery and reduce adverse outcomes in stented arteries in patients. This article presents a mathematical model to describe the integrated processes of drug release in a stent with PLGA coating and subsequent...
